WWI U.S. M1917 Trench Knife by Landers, Frary & Clark
This trench knife was made by Landers, Frary & Clark for use by American troops in World War One. The triangular blade made suturing the wounds extremely difficult and was later banned by the Geneva Convention.
This particular example is the Model 1917 with the single row of hollow teeth on the guard. Also marked on the guard is "U.S. L.F.&C. 1917". Both metal parts of the scabbard have a faint "M.S" stamp on them.
The blade retains some of its original bluing. It has scratches and dents along the length and the very tip is slightly bent.
The leather near the tip of the scabbard appears to have been damaged and repaired at some point.
